What is Absinthe?

In the book somebody asks him: What is this and Robert answers "A medicine". "But what is it for?" "For everything. It cures everything. If you have anything wrong, this will cure it".

The effect of Absinthe is described with this generalistic terms. Absinthe, the Green Fairy, is like a medicine. In fact the herbal elixirs present in the liquor have some therapeutic effects. And Absinthe was invented by a doctor in the year 1792.
